Recap of Our Participation in the MKTE Trade Fair

Earlier this month, our Destination Management Company (DMC) had the privilege of participating in the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) 2024, a vibrant and engaging three-day exhibition that brought together industry professionals from across the globe. This event served as an invaluable platform for us to connect with both international and local travel agents, strengthening relationships and expanding our network.

During the fair, we proudly showcased our exceptional travel experiences across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zanzibar, highlighting the diverse and unique attractions in these destinations. The discussions with agents were insightful, allowing us to share the latest trends and collaboratively create even more tailored and memorable travel experiences.

This year’s MKTE was particularly significant, as the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) praised the event as a key driver in helping Kenya achieve its goal of attracting 2.5 million tourists by the end of 2024. Speaking at the expo, KATA Chairperson Dr. Joseph Kithitu described MKTE as a pivotal platform for marketing Africa as a top travel destination. He emphasized the importance of ongoing industry participation in expos like MKTE to tap into emerging markets and showcase Kenya’s diverse attractions to the world.

“Kenya is the launchpad for Africa, and MKTE is the ideal platform for marketing the continent. With 1.8 million tourists already visiting Kenya by August, we are well on track to meet our target,” said Dr. Kithitu.

As we reflect on our participation in MKTE 2024, we are excited about the opportunities ahead. The event has laid the foundation for further growth in tourism across East Africa. We look forward to future exhibitions and are optimistic about continuing to contribute to Kenya’s flourishing tourism industry, while also elevating travel experiences across the region.

The prospects are promising, and with ongoing efforts, we are set to make an even bigger impact at MKTE 2025!
