World Travel Awards Africa Gala 2024: Celebrating Excellence in Tourism
The spotlight recently shone on Africa’s tourism leaders at the prestigious World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony, held at the stunning Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort in Diani Beach, Kenya. This exciting event brought together the continent’s top travel and hospitality innovators to honor organizations pushing the boundaries of excellence and innovation within the industry.
Tanzania emerged as a big winner, taking multiple accolades including ‘Africa’s Leading Destination,’ while Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro were named ‘Africa’s Leading National Park’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction,’ respectively, further solidifying Tanzania’s status as a premier destination for adventure and nature lovers.
Newcomers to the tourism scene were also recognized, with Angama Amboseli in Kenya being named ‘Africa’s Leading New Hotel,’ and Morocco’s St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort taking the title of ‘Africa’s Leading New Resort.’
Kenya celebrated several wins, with Diani Beach once again being crowned ‘Africa’s Leading Beach Destination.’ Nairobi also claimed the title of ‘Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination,’ while the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club was recognized as ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel.’
In the aviation sector, Kenya Airways soared, winning both ‘Africa’s Leading Airline’ and ‘Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class,’ while Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was honored as ‘Africa’s Leading Airport.’
The event was a significant milestone for the region, as tourism professionals and organizations continue to elevate Africa’s status on the global stage.
