Your Kenya adventure safari begins in Laikipia, home to more endangered wildlife than anywhere else in East Africa, including half of Kenya’s black rhino. The region offers particularly diverse safari experiences, with game drives, bush walks, horse riding, and multi-day walking and camel trekking safaris.

Ol Pejeta is a private wildlife conservancy between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. It has one of the highest densities of wildlife in Kenya and an astounding variety of animals, including the Big Five. It’s also a good base for exploring the Aberdares, Mount Kenya and Solio Game Reserve.

The next stage of your Kenya adventure safari heads through the Aberdares and into the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the Rift Valley lakes, its shores at times home to huge flocks of flamingos, a spectacle once called “the greatest bird spectacle on earth”. Game drives bring you close to the birdlife and to the park’s other residents, such as elephants, giraffe and rhino. Nakuru creates a sense of wonder in even the most well-travelled visitor.

Lake Elementaita is a small soda lake of 18 km² on the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley. Though on private land, it can be visited and is often home to tens of thousands of flamingos, great white pelicans and great crested grebes, and is an important stopover for over 350 bird species. Zebra, gazelle, eland and families of warthog live here too. Activities include horse riding, birdwatching and a visit to the natural warm springs that flow into the lake.

The Masai Mara is the grand finale of your Kenya adventure safari, and it fulfils the dreams of any visitor searching for an amazing safari experience. Its iconic landscapes, endless seas of golden grass dotted with acacia trees, are home to cheetah, leopard, large prides of lions, elephants, giraffe, hyena, huge Nile crocodiles, frolicking hippos and many other species.

Wildlife viewing in the Mara is fantastic all year round. In season, it’s the site of one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences on earth: the annual migration of close to two million wildebeest and zebra, crossing the crocodile-infested Mara River.

While you’ll see most animals on game drives, the conservation areas surrounding the Mara also offer beautiful bush walks and visits to a local Maasai village.
